Portrait – Courtney McGillion

Alright,

Sometimes all it takes is one photo.

Courtney was starting to send out applications for Masters programs and wanted to polish her online presence. No sense in having a jaw-dropping resume if a LinkedIn search has you not looking your best (<squints>…I’m looking at you vacation photo people).

Her reaction upon getting the photo;

What is this? A photo of myself that’s not a selfie?! And doesn’t have kids in it? 🙂

Wow.

Thank you so much, again!

Portrait – Kristi-Lea Abramson

Alright,

In case you didn’t know, everyone’s got to have a go to Graphic Designer. Mine is Kristi-Lea Abramson, the founder of Conceptually Speaking. There’s not been a design problem I’ve sent her that she can’t solve. In addition to her Design hat, she runs a paper goods company that pops up around Vancouver at places like Portobello West and Got Craft?.

“I’m a busy freelancer who hates the limelight.

This seems like an impossible recipe for a photographer but Kurtis not only made it super easy to book a shoot, he calmed my nerves to really let my best self shine through in photos. He assured me we were just going for a walk to take some shots and nothing was overly serious. This was probably the best thing he could have said. From that moment on it was all conversation and laughs.

Nothing felt forced or contrived; it was just a walk. We even had (if you can believe it) fun! He got me dancing, joking and giving a genuine smile; ultimately leading to beautiful, natural photos of myself that I am excited to share with the world.”

– Kristi-Lea Abramson, Founder, Conceptually Speaking

Kristi-Lea and I finally found some time to wander through Railtown and into Gastown and get her some fresh promo images…enjoy!

Portrait – Comuzzi Family

Alright,

I met Laura Comuzzi (pretty white floral print dress) at a Photography Workshop I taught earlier this year. I was brought in to teach the BC Nurses’ Union Marketing team how they can excel at Photographing the many events they hold.

After the class was finished Laura and I got to chatting about a Family Portrait session with her boisterous Italian Family. We planned and schemed (mostly her planning, me scheming) and we able to align everyone’s schedule to do a shoot on the Westside of Vancouver in Almond Park. They all showed up dressed to the nines and we were in and out in a hour (leaving the children delighted they could FINALLY get to the playground and the adults could relax their laughing muscles).

“I really appreciated how easeful this whole ‘photo’ process has been for me. From booking our photo session with you to you showing up and starting without me due to unforeseen circumstances, you really took charge and dove right in. With 13 people in the mix, especially fidgety kidlette’s, it’s never an easy task.

The family is going to love the photos and our ‘green’ inspired shoot, will be a lovely addition to many walls in the Comuzzi households. I especially really loved the one with my dad and his kids (me, Paula and David). I know my dad will happily add this to his family portrait section in his house.

Thank you Kurtis for capturing our family so beautifully. ”
