Alright so you’re probably all wondering what I’ been up to in the last little bit. After leaving Amsterdam I went to visit some family outside of Dortmund in Germany. It was during the weekend so my cousin (I believe that’s the relation) Oliver invited me to go to a ropes course with his friends. I thought SURE how hard could it be, I know ropes like the back of my hand. I failed to consider that some serious height might be involved.
This is the pole I’m balancing on above. …yeah. Pretty freaking high. Not only do you have to climb up that dinky little ladder, when you get to the top you have to jump to the ground…Before getting onto the ladder I gave my camera to Jessica to document this possibly tragic end to a good life. The part at the top is about the size of a dinner plate. I stood up there looking down and for all intents and puposes looked like a bear balancing on a postage stamp. I tried to get my legs to go anywhere, down, up sideways but they did not want to agree with me.
I did end up doing it after about 15 minutes of jeering from Oliver’s friends. The ropes course instructor said “Kootis, the camera battery is getting low…” very funny. I realiye now that I would have really regretted it if I climbed down the ladder.
On a trip like this, you regret the things you don’t do more than the things that you did.
